Vision Statement
Our students understand that they are created by God as unique individuals with specific God-given talents, abilities, and purposes. Students graduate equipped with a biblical worldview, a strong academic foundation, and the ability to think creatively and communicate clearly, empowered to be ambassadors to a broken world in desperate need of Christ’s saving grace.
Mission Statement
Longview Christian School partners with Christian parents to provide a complete kingdom education for their children designed to inspire, challenge, and equip students to maximize their God-given capabilities and understand their purpose in an environment that is saturated with the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.
Core Values
CHRIST-CENTERED EDUCATION
We believe that Christ must be the center of all that we do. Our entire educational program is based on the truths of God’s Word and the preeminence of Jesus Christ. We strive to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment where students are actively engaged and challenged to give their very best.
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” –Galatians 2:20
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.” –Colossians 1:15-18
RELATIONSHIP
We believe that for training, instruction, and correction to be effective, it must be rooted in the love and respect of true relationship. Our teachers strive to form meaningful and appropriate connections with students, showing them the true love and care of Christ. Likewise, we believe that our relationship with parents and guardians is a partnership. God has given you the responsibility to raise your children. We are here to assist you in that calling. We believe the foundation of that partnership is excellent communication and mutual understanding.
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” –Philippians 2:1-2
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.” –1 Corinthians 3:6-8
UNIQUE CREATIONS
We believe that God creates individuals with distinct and unique strengths and weaknesses, gifts and talents, and personality traits to accomplish unique purposes in life. Our teachers view the distinctive features of each child as God ordained and work to provide the education that will serve each student best. We cultivate each child’s giftings, enabling them to flourish and grow.
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.” –Romans 12:3-6
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace” –1 Peter 4:10
GRACE AND TRUTH
We believe grace and truth are at the very heart of who Jesus is and how God relates to us. Scripture beautifully shows how the two work together — truth revealing God’s holiness and standards, and grace offering forgiveness, love, and empowerment to live in that truth. These complementary virtues are the foundation of our discipline procedures at LCS, as we work to redirect and guide students to follow the example of Christ.
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” –John 1:14
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” –Micah 6:8
HUMBLE SERVICE
We encourage our students, families, and staff to follow Christ’s example of leadership through servanthood. We challenge our students to live lives dedicated to reaching beyond themselves by submitting their lives to Christ and His calling every day.
"It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” –Matthew 20:26-28
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” –Colossians 3:23-24
