Athletics

All high school students participate in physical education or athletics, unless specifically excused.  Athletics can unite a group of people, all working  together to achieve a common goal.  Athletics can  teach some of the most fundamental and important  human values: dedication, perseverance, hard work, and teamwork.  The interaction also teaches athletes  how to handle their success and cope with their  failure. Sports ideally teach discipline and commitment, challenging the athlete and building  character for everything they may do in life.

Jesus Christ is to be the center of our attention, both on and  off the court or field. We are to have Christ-like attitudes and actions in every endeavor. "Whatever  you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord  Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Colossians 3:17

The athletic program is a tool to teach  Godly character that will prevail in circumstances that  are sometimes challenging and difficult.  Athletes will learn to maintain self-control in the heat of competition, humility in victory, and self-respect in  defeat.  Each athlete will have a different role in sports  and in life, and must learn that God wants us not to  change our role, but to live righteously in the role we  are given. LCS is a member of TAPPS (Texas Association  of Private and Parochial Schools) and is governed by their policies.
